Bonjour mi amors!

So, in addition to Seattle’s historical style scene – hey, where would grunge-glamour be without us? Exactly! – we have solidified some fresh fashion cred (French nonetheless) with the arrival of Nordstrom’s new special projects director, Olivia Kim. The former vice president of creative at Opening Ceremony – creative what? I don’t know, but it’s unimportant, that’s how flipping chic this chick is – recently joined the Nordstrom crew and is already schooling us, so to speak.

Kim is the creative mind behind Nordys most recent French themed pop-in shop that debuted on the metro level of the downtown store on Thursday, October 10th. The first of a series to premiere at a select group of eight brick and mortar stores nationwide, including our flagship location.

Inspired by her most recent trip to Paris Fashion Week in March and her French bulldog – the event mascot splayed throughout the collection – Kim curated a-my-favorite-things type mash-up of limited edition items by exclusive Parisian and American brands for the French Fling pop-up. Expect street-wear essentials, fashionable reads and other charming novelties in the high-low range. Including cool-kid crewnecks, tees and fitted caps by the likes of APC, Rodarte and Kenzo, characteristic clutches by accessories genius Olympia Le-Tan, Chanel goods (of course) and more. Our favorite: a cozy cotton pullover with nautical navy stripes by sailing aficionados Saint James, also bearing the now iconic, custom embroidered bulldog, which Kim coyly smiles and points at while introducing me to the boat-wear line, “that’s my baby”. The pop-in also marks the state-side premiere of the charming Paris-based home goods company, Merci.

The French Fling floor set-up also took its roots from a sweetly chic Paris café along the rive gauche’ thanks to its romantically strung lights and finely trimmed plastic hedges showcasing the goods amongst berets, books and silver platters of pink champagne. Visit our version of France for a the day, and get your gear while it’s hot because I doubt it’ll last long! I mean, it’s some really choice stuff – tres’ magnifique – and unless you prefer shopping online (that’s the only other place you can purchase items once they’re gone at nordstrom.com), mosey on over to the Nordstrom nerve center downtown to peruse the Parisian specialties. Check out the short clip of the pop-up presentation  HERE for an insider’s look at its design from the ground up, and be on the lookout for Nordstrom’s next pop-in event coming mid November. Not sure what home-girl has up her sleeve, but I’m anticipating its arrival. Au’ Revoir.
